Policy on Research Involving Human and Animal Subjects

JETIA-ITEGAM requires strict compliance with ethical standards for research involving human and/or animal subjects, in accordance with the principles of the Declaration of Helsinki (2013 revision) and the specific regulations of the country where the research was conducted.

For manuscripts submitted by Brazilian authors or involving research conducted in Brazil, it is mandatory to present:

  • Research involving human subjects: approval by a Research Ethics Committee (CEP) registered with the National Research Ethics Commission (CONEP), in accordance with CNS Resolution No. 466/2012, including the approval number and date;
  • Research involving animals: approval by an Animal Ethics Committee (CEUA) or equivalent, in accordance with national and international animal welfare guidelines, such as the ARRIVE Guidelines.

For foreign authors or research conducted outside Brazil, JETIA requires:

  • Presentation of an ethical approval document issued by an ethics committee or equivalent regulatory body officially recognized in the country where the research was conducted;
  • This document must clearly demonstrate that the research was approved in compliance with the ethical standards in force in the study's country of origin, whether involving human or animal subjects.

Ethical approval information must appear:

  • In the methodology section of the manuscript;
  • In the submission metadata on the journal's platform;
  • And the supporting documents must be attached at the time of submission.

Omission, falsification, or manipulation of ethical data constitutes a serious violation of the journal's editorial policy and may result in manuscript rejection, subsequent retraction, or notification to the involved institutions.
